Waking up to music is a wonderful way to start our first full day. Katie and Dave practiced their "spanish" version of some of the songs we know and sang. This looks to be a pretty good day!
All of the woman who were helping in the kitchen start dinner first thing in the m
orning after fixing a breakfast of chicken noodle soup, fresh fruit, and PB&J. (of course that changed from time to time....) EVERYTHING is fresh! Fresh fruit, homemade nothing frozen meals. Even the meats were fresh..... Fresher than I care to think about.
We didn't know what the day would bring, since there was rain the night before, but going to the site was not in the cards. I think we may go to the markado. This is a "wild" outdoor
market where people grab a spot and sell their wares. There are many people selling the exact same thing. Beans, rice, and fresh fruits and vegetables. They even have a snow cone guy walking around. In the picture, you can see the flavors aren't your typical "flavors" How we ALL wanted to try one...but because we are unsure about the water...we all opted not to...thou....it was soooo tempting....

Here are loads of plantains being sold off the back of a truck. Clothes being sold and a woman packing up for the day. We did get there rather late, but we were able to see enough. It's loud, music blaring (would beat any car radio in the US) and lots of people milling around. I think one of the neatest things is....The kids. They were so "awed" but the "white" americano's. Their stares were so....."deer in the headlights" look. They probably have never seen a white person. And when I tell you there weren't many.....I don't recall seeing any outside the airport. The funny thing about it all....I felt like I belonged here. Not like an outsider. This is such a cool place.
