Welp, seems I've forgotten something in the mix of days...so we just may throw this in the middle...it is midweek, so it'll work....It was a walk Anna and I took. We needed to get some pics...Anna was my photo buddy. We walked up to the other church we helped build the first trip. It is literally right up the street....up the hill, to the dirt road...about half a mile from the church we are presently working on. The first thing I noticed was that the electrical wiring had been updated. Now there are wires on tall thin sticks...Much better than the ONE pole with tons of lines stapled, strapped, tapped nailed...whatever, on it. Hmm how things have changed.....
As we walked to the dirt road, we could see houses on a ridge. To our right was a sugarcane field. Its down in a hollow. We noticed the houses on the ridge....they were falling down the
hill. The hill was getting washed away. As we got close, we realized just how bad it was. The road was eroding...and the houses that were there....gone..... I wondered...did the "Blue Girls" house disappear with the others? She lived on this ridge..... How many kids and people did we talk to our first trip that don't have their homes anymore? My heart sank! It looked like someone was making a home under the one that was at the bottom. The way there was a tarp over the
sticks, and the bowl...as if to feed a dog? maybe the sugarcane workers made a shelter for shade. Its just a guess......
As we walked around the bend, we noticed this little pink house....it was
on the edge. It was also still occupied. As we got closer my heart opened up. As I write this, I feel the emotion setting in. I can't help but smile....a BIG smile! Here was this little girl....and her dog....just hangin out outside. She was amazed to see the "Americano's" Well, since I can't speak the language, what do I do to make coversation? MAKE FACES!!! So, I started making faces....she started making faces back then we'd giggle....we did that over and over and over....we had so much fun making faces at each ot
her...after a bit, we decided to continue on.... she followed as far as her fence would allow her and we continued to make faces at each other as we went.....when we were out of sight, I could here her crying. My
heart was so full.....I can't even begin to tell you just how full. God can be found in many places, in many ways, in many faces. I worry because her house is the pink house. It's not looking promising for this family. I just hope they aren't in the home when it decides to take its trip to the sugarcane field belo
w.How can you not fall in love with this place. It's a simple yet complicated life. And yet, these people seem so happy. Pray for this little girl and her family as the land continues to erode around the
